Today, a piece of my childhood ends. 💔

Lionel Messi will play his final game for Argentina.

The man who made me fall in love with football. The man who made me pick up a ball as a kid and dream that maybe, one day, I could become a professional.

I never met him. I never watched him play live. Maybe I never will. But somehow, a man who never knew my name became such a huge part of my childhood.

He taught me more than football. He taught me to dream when the dream felt impossible, to keep fighting when you feel small, to stay humble even when the whole world is watching, and to never give up on what you love.

I always thought I would get to watch Messi forever. I never imagined there would be a “last game.”

Tomorrow, when I see him wear that Argentina shirt for the final time, I know it’s going to hurt. I know I’ll probably cry. Not simply because football is saying goodbye to one of its greatest players, but because the little boy who grew up watching Messi is saying goodbye too.

A part of my childhood is retiring with him.
