It was a pleasure to receive the Governing Council of the Chartered Institute of Forensic and Certified Fraud Investigators of Nigeria (CIFCFIN), led by its President and Chairman of Council, Dr. Iliyasu Yerima Gashinbaki at the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI).
Our engagement was an opportunity to reaffirm the strong relationship between ACCI and CIFCFIN and to explore practical areas where our partnership can deliver value to the business community and to Nigeria.
One of the key areas discussed was the establishment of a forensic laboratory that can provide specialised services in forensic investigation, forensic documentation, digital forensics and fraud-related matters. I am particularly encouraged by this proposal because businesses today operate in an increasingly complex environment where fraud prevention, investigation and evidence-based decision-making are critical to building trust and protecting investments.
I have therefore directed the leadership of our Business, Entrepreneurship, Skills and Technology (BEST) Centre to engage with CIFCFIN and explore the feasibility of establishing such a facility within the Centre.
The ACCI-BEST Centre already houses specialised facilities, including a gemology laboratory, and I believe this provides a strong foundation for expanding into other areas of technical and professional services.
The visit also provided an opportunity to reflect on the decision to name our multi-purpose cooperative building after Dr. Gashinbaki. I stressed that the decision was not about patronage. It was about recognition and appreciation.
I look forward to seeing the conversation between ACCI and CIFCFIN translate into concrete initiatives that will strengthen forensic capacity, support businesses, create professional opportunities and contribute to the fight against fraud in Nigeria.
Strong institutions are built through partnerships, and I remain committed to building partnerships that deliver tangible value to our members, the business community and our country.
