![Mumbai’s iconic Shivaji Park in Dadar is set to remain firecracker-free this Diwali as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) steps up enforcement of the Bombay High Court’s directions. Ahead of Diwali 2026, the civic body plans to install warning boards across the area to inform citizens about the restrictions and coordinate with the local Shivaji Park Police Station to ensure compliance. The move follows concerns raised by local residents over noise and air pollution caused by firecrackers, particularly the inconvenience faced by senior citizens living in the neighbourhood. Residents’ groups have also called for regular police patrolling and strict action against violators. The initiative aims to ensure a safer and quieter Diwali while reinforcing the importance of following court-mandated restrictions.
