A powerful and deeply moving visit to the Warsaw Uprising Museum. 🇵🇱

As I walked through the exhibits I was filled with mixed motions- anger, sadness and immense pride, alongside a powerful sense of Polish identity. The stories of those who fought, resisted and sacrificed during the 1944 Uprising were confronting, but deeply moving.

The photograph is the whole campaign. A Black man sits quietly in a chair at an El-Sayed event, says nothing, disrupts nothing, and gets ejected on the candidate’s orders anyway. No shouting, no sign, no confrontation. Just a voter the campaign decided it did not want in the room. The video shows staff moving in while the man sits there wondering what rule he broke. The rule, apparently, was being the wrong kind of audience. El-Sayed polls near ninety percent among Black voters, and his campaign treats that support like an inheritance rather than a trust. The same machine that begs for Black votes in Detroit will throw a Black voter out of its own event for sitting quietly while white activists nod along. That is not outreach. That is ownership. A candidate who cannot tolerate one silent Black man in his own room has no business asking Black Michigan to hand him six years in the Senate. Rogers has spent this race making the opposite pitch: investment in Black-owned businesses, apprenticeships, a Detroit office, and a coalition that actually shows up and listens. El-Sayed answers with security guards. Michigan’s Black voters have carried the Democratic Party for generations and been repaid with lectures and ejections. On Tuesday, they can walk past the velvet rope and vote for the man who leaves the chair open.
