Walk Up with co chief resident Dr Karen Jones @karenspangle, class of 2003 at the annual American College of Emergency Physician University of Chicago Alumni event after stopping by the ACEP alumni event for Loyola University Chicago’s Emergency Department.
I had the privilege of learning from absolute legends of emergency medicine. Last night’s gathering was quite the lineup of so many of mentors, my chiefs, my bosses, my fellow night-shift warriors, co residents, medical students…what a night! The invite was 7p-3am and I made it until 1am but things were just getting started as the evening shift was coming in hot-
My career has evolved, but those years remain part of everything I do. They shaped how I think, how I care for patients, and how I show up when someone needs me. Now these pioneers of emergency medicine who founded the specialty with residency training programs established in the early 1970s (Board of Emergency Medicine est 1979) are longevity medicine curious, too! Just as I was ten years ago- More than ever, I feel empowered to teach physicians what I have learned about age management medicine, cardiometabolic health and how we can more proactively predict the aging trajectory of ourselves, patients and loved one to delay or prevent the onset of chronic disease.

To everyone who taught me, challenged me, trusted me, laughed and cried with me, stood beside me: THANK YOU 🙏🏻❤️ I am Incredibly grateful for these people, these memories, and the chance to be together again. Cheers to our collective healthy longevity! 🥂 #longevity #health #criticalcare #innovators
