a month agoDMX gave us his all in this song!!! I will never forget when I first heard it!!! I was so happy for Shok!. I knew it was going to be a hit! Then when we released it to the public DMX did something no rapper at that time did . He and Shok made a a classic at a tempo that no one was doing. I honestly felt the combination of the message and the melody of this song made it unfogetable and memorable forever. I was GM at that time. Those years working with everyone polished my executive chops. I honestly dont know if we will ever hear a produced song or artist that accomplished that level pf success and catalog value like " Slippin" ever again. Thank you @djshok and X! RIP!!! Peaceβ€οΈπ₯π
a month agoWhen DMX came out, Yonkis was going crazy. I just moved from the Bronx to Yonkers in 94. At first, I didnβt wanna move to Yonkers for nothing, even though I lived very close my whole life I remember when DMX, he came out with both albums in one year, that was unheard of. I still have the vinyl records what a time to be alive. Iβm 53 right now and will never see another time like this ever. One in 1973, I got to witness the best of everything. I feel bad for the people born now. Thereβs more hatred. I remember growing up, you didnβt ask people about their religion or politics because it was considered low class. Now itβs shoved down everybodyβs throat. Everybodyβs against everybody, and itβs so sad. I wish I could go back to the early 90s
