Why off the rack slim fit actually makes men look wider, and how tailoring geometry fixes it. Low rise pants and cropped jackets cut your body right down the middle. When a waistband sits below the belly, it exposes that dead space triangle at the hips, pushes the stomach forward, and shortens your legs. The architectural fix comes down to three rules of proportion: The Rule of Two Thirds: Raising the rise to your natural waist across the fullest point of the belly erases that dead space. The cloth drapes cleanly in an unbroken vertical line, giving two thirds of your visual frame to the legs. Full Seat Coverage: A jacket must cover the curve of the seat. Cropped jackets truncate your torso, while proper length restores balance. The True Button Stance: The fastening button is your visual anchor. It should sit at either the narrowest point of the waist for natural suppression, or across the widest point of the abdomen so the jacket quarters never pull open. Proportion over trends. Every single time. If it is made for everyone, it was not made for you. Schedule your private consultation upstairs at the Hooper House showroom in Baltimore.
