How have rainfall patterns evolved across Tamil Nadu over the past four decades, and what can they tell us about the region’s changing water resources?

Join us for our next Monday Colloquium with Mathilde Juin, IFP Civic Service Volunteer at the Geomatics Department, who will present her work on “Understanding Hydroclimatic Variability in Tamil Nadu using CHIRPS Rainfall Satellite Data.”

Drawing on 40 years of rainfall data (1984–2024), this research explores the spatial and temporal variability of rainfall across Tamil Nadu. Part of IFP’s broader Water Bodies mapping and monitoring project, the study contributes to understanding the relationship between rainfall patterns and surface water dynamics in the context of climate change, urbanisation, and increasing pressure on water resources.

📅 Monday, 12 October 2026

🕒 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM (IST)

📍 Nehru Room, IFP & Online

We look forward to an engaging discussion!
