How does plastic surgery affect interpersonal relationships?

One of the most interesting parts of my work isn’t the physical result. It’s the emotional shift that can follow, especially between partners.

When a woman has a procedure, I often see one of two reactions:

➡️ Her partner feels closer and more connected than ever.
➡️ Or her partner pulls back, feeling insecure or even jealous of her new confidence.

That difference usually has less to do with the procedure and more to do with how self-image and relationships are intertwined.

Have you seen a change like this after a procedure? Share below ⬇️

Have you ever seen a wife react with insecurity/hostility toward her husband’s surgery?

What are your thoughts on husbands who are opposed to their wives getting plastic surgery, but the wives really wanting to do it for themselves?

I wonder if it’s not always jealousy, but also just an emotional attachment to the face you know and love. I’ve had plenty of cosmetic procedures myself and love changing my appearance, but when my partner gets something done, even something I’ve recommended, I sometimes feel sad and miss her old face. It’s almost like a little sense of loss, even when you love the results. I wonder if some men experience that same disconnect with change.

My husband was a rock star supporter during my recovery. It made me truly appreciate how amazing a man he is and that I’m blessed to have him in my life. He’s been nothing but supportive throughout my healing journey and our marriage is so much stronger having gone through the experience together. So grateful! 💕

I think after marriage both partners need to be on board of taking on this 'plastic surgery' leap of faith, in it for good and bad. Also, for husbands I don't believe its a security issue. I believe they either didn't like the transformation (estheticly) or they felt that their wife has changed since she got the transformation. Just like some husbands change if they get a sudden wealth, the wife may become jealous, or feel their husbands changed due to sudden wealth.

Husbands usually say “you don’t need that, I love you just the way you are” but when it comes down to it it’s her choice , whatever that will make you happy.
