If you’ve read many reviews of Fallow then I may sound like a bit of a broken record. Like so many others, I absolutely loved the first half, but wasn’t a huge fan of the second half.

In the novel, 23-year-old Natalie is hired at a corporation in a very interesting position. She’s to be a surrogate for women employees who wish to have babies. The business is promoting it as a way to let working women have it all, but it’s clear they just want to keep their female employees working longer and harder without interruptions from pregnancy and recovery.

The deal they offer Natalie is extremely lucrative and as a struggling young person living in a city, it sounds kind of like a dream job to her… but is it really?

It’s such a unique Handmaiden-type story and I couldn’t get enough of it!! I won’t tell you the events that happen in the second part of the book, but it definitely lost a little speed for me there.

I still enjoyed this one and recommend it if you’re looking for a book that’s probably not like anything you’ve read before and that will make you think about how far corporate greed can go, bodily autonomy, and how much of yourself you’d hand over for security.

Have you read this one or is it on your TBR?

This one is on my TBR, but I hate when a book loses momentum in the back half.

This was one of my BOTM picks last month. Curious to see where I land with my thoughts once I’ve read it. Glad you ultimately enjoyed it.

I was curious about it. But I prefer my books not to go off the rails in the end 😂

I’ve been hearing this same sentiment a lot. Still looking forward to reading it though.

Why did the editors not make her change the 2nd part?!?! It could have been a HUGE book if it had been as strong as the first part!!!
