Hi friend,
After the hike into Tjørnuvik, we were picked up by my friend’s wife and journeyed on one of the most heart-stopping roads I’ve ever been on. Destination, Fóssa waterfall. If you look back at my previous post, you can see the road leading out of Tjørnuvik along the Sundini Strait. This is a narrow one way road, so drivers have to wait for a signal to drive out. To immerse you into the scenario, imagine driving on this narrow, winding road along the water’s edge with views of the Sundini Strait and you suddenly see a striking multilevel waterfall emptying directly into the Strait. Something a picture just doesn’t do justice.
When we arrived at the base of the lower waterfall, my friend got out and started hiking up. I’m relatively sure at this point we were just going rogue but who I am to question a local. When we reached the end point, we were behind the waterfall looking out to the water. Two things blow my mind about this hike. One, it was just off the road. You could park at the base and start hiking. Two, the landscape you are looking out to. You feel like you are in another world. The waterfall is beautiful when looking at it from a distance, but looking out to the Strait from behind the waterfall is like looking through a nature made window while it’s raining. This picture, although it doesn’t quite capture the beauty in it’s entirety, lets you see some of what I saw and hopefully transports you to this awe inspiring place for a moment. Something to note, this hike from what I was told, was added to the itinerary last minute by my friend’s wife and I am so grateful I got to experience it.
