JUSTICE FOR JENNIFER LAUDE ✊⚧️
Twelve years ago today, Jennifer Laude, a 26-year-old trans woman, was killed in Olongapo City by US Marine Lance Cp. Joseph Scott Pemberton. Pemberton was convicted of homicide in 2015 and had been serving just over half of the mere ten year sentence when he was granted “absolute pardon” by then president Rodrigo Duterte. Pemberton was released immediately from detention and returned to the US.
We must continue fighting for national sovereignty and for collective dignity against imperialist powers as there can be no justice for Jennifer Laude, Anna Yagi, and all those impacted by imperialist violence and other forms of gender-based violence while the presence of foreign governments remains in our homelands.
