A moment for @metatesis_ 💥 who created the music from the ground up with @ishvara.dev and I for CYVASA 2.0 and whose existing improvisational work I used for my work Ketok, Ora Ketok in 2025. Metatesis is a feminist noise duo from Yogyakarta {which is both Ishvara’s and my spiritual home} and is comprised of two incredibly talented, driven women {and mothers!} Woro @siouxiesimilikitty and Nadya @nadya.hatta. I first saw the last video in this post on - well I can’t remember, somewhere amongst the hundreds of Yogya music accounts I follow here - and thought two things: firstly “holy shit I LOVE this and want to work with them” and secondly, how cool to see women in their element in a very male-dominated scene. I DMed them and, well, the rest is history. Ishvara and I had just completed the first development of CYVASA 2.0 in March last year, and right away I knew Metatesis would be the perfect composers to collaborate with for this work in which we create a matriarchal utopia, impelled by the concepts of glitch feminism, rewriting Javanese patriarchal histories, and summoning our collective ancestral spirits. Even through working remotely between Yogya, Gold Coast and Jakarta, the four of us connected deeply on these ideas and built the CYVASA 2.0 world very much together. There is a section called Sirens where their voices ring through time and space to meet our voices in the flesh, in the here and now. Calling to one another; a secret code, a covenant. I feel so lucky to get to work with such talent and have made very special new soul sisters. Woro! Nadya! We love you! Matur nuwun sangat sistersku 💞. I love our CYVASA coven. And to those reading this: behold. Metatesis are powerful women, and so special. ✨💥🔥💫
