Every new mum has different goals postpartum and will recover on different timelines - but if your goal is to get back into running after having bub then this is for you 🧡🏃♀️
When we meet to check in on your recovery, we aren’t just looking at how your pelvic floor and core muscles are functioning. Yes - they are incredibly important, but so are things like your tendon capacity, bone health and single leg stability 💪
If you:
🔸️ >12 weeks postpartum
🔸️have seen a pelvic floor physio
🔸️have no bladder/bowel leakage
🔸️have no prolapse symptoms
🔸️and no pelvic pain
And you can complete these tests with no symptoms of the above - then you may be safe to start adding some running or impact into your routine - yay! 🏃♀️
If you aren’t at that point yet, this is totally normal - it may be that your body just needs a little more time to heal. Our pelvic floor physios can work alongside you to ensure that you are working on an individual program to get you back to where you want to be - all good things take time. 😉
When you see us at Four - we will always ensure that you are safe to start running when your body is ready. When the time comes, we will also discuss:
🔸️Load management postpartum for bone health
🔸️Breast support
🔸️Footwear
Did you find this helpful? We would love to know!
