Congratulations to Anthony Moua for placing 3rd runner up at Mr. Global 2026 representing HMONG!!! 🎉
On this Indigenous People’s Day, I wanted to take a moment to celebrate how this was a win not only for Hmong people, but indigenous peoples around the world.🌎
Anthony won “Mister Popularity” from 10 million votes because he had the highest number of public points through the online voting platform! 🏆
It reminded me of how Payengxa Lor, Miss Universe Laos 2022🇱🇦, also won the global online popularity fan vote, the Miss Universe People’s Choice Award.
That just goes to show that our Hmong people from around the world will rally to support our people! When you ask our people to show up, we will SHOW UP and RALLY to support one another. ✊That’s what I love about my Hmong people!❤️🥹
I also felt that love and support from our Hmong community when I was competing for and won Miss Washington’s Teen 2017, the first Hmong state titleholder in the
@missamerica organization.👑
This is a very significant moment for our Hmong people who usually are not represented on this level in global pageants.🤴🏽
Most people compete in global pageants representing a country, but since our Hmong people don’t have a country of our own, the fact Anthony represented Hmong was beautiful.
To reject the norm of representing a country with borders and instead choosing to represent a stateless people was a powerful, anti-colonial move, reminding us that borders are just illusions that we never crossed but that crossed through us.
I also love how he wore the xauv which represents our freedom from slavery and oppression. This silver necklace we wear represents how we turned pain into beauty.
Happy Indigenous People’s Day to my Hmong people and other indigenous peoples around the world.🌏🫶🏼🥹
To my indigenous fam out there, be proud of who you are! Be proud to be indigenous. 🫶🏼Sending love to my indigenous community around the world. ❤️
