A government school teacher in Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria has been arrested over allegations of sexually inappropriate touching of two minor students, aged eight and ten, at a primary school on October 3.

The accused, identified as Mainullah Siddiqui, had reportedly been assigned to the school for a day as two women teachers were on leave for Jivitputrika. According to police, a case was registered under relevant sections, including the POCSO Act, following a complaint by one of the girls’ mothers.

The accused teacher has been suspended following an inquiry by the education department. A block education officer was also issued an adverse entry for allegedly delaying the submission of the inquiry report. Further legal action is underway.
