So I kind of did a thing! I am the Fall Artist @genslersanantonio and my art will adorn their firm’s gallery walls for the next six months! And yes, it’s all for sale with the option to buy prints of most pieces. 🤗

But this opening day was less than easy. Brutal, if I’m honestly. At 6pm I showed up in heels, makeup and a dress, ready to mingle and chat art. I gave a lil speech. And actually had a lovely time.

But. Only 6hr earlier, we said goodby to our sweetest, most precious Henly dog. My first true fur baby. She made it 17.5 years. Insane and beautiful that we got so much time with her. (Yes I will share more later. I’m still processing the loss.) I had been sobbing all morning with my kids and hubby and I honestly don’t know how my face doesn’t look puffier.

But that’s the brutality of life, right? And it’s not lost on me that the timing of her passing fits perfectly with my art show. It’s my artwork overall. Beauty and pain. Joy within deep grief. The human experience is honestly nuts. But I suppose you don’t know true gratitude and beauty unless you trudge through the muck and suffering. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sometimes I just paint pretty things because we NEED pretty things! Life is hard enough! And other times I paint the pain within the joy, the light shining out of darkness. We cannot and should never wallow in the darkness. But that darkness certainly lets the stars shine. And I will always look for the stars. ✨.
