Chess with Yasha. ♟️❤️
One of my favourite things to do these days is play chess with Yasha.
And I have to say, this boy is getting GOOD! 😂
With every game, I can see how much he’s improving. His moves are becoming more intentional, he’s thinking ahead, and I’m finding that I actually have to sit up and pay attention when we play.
Because if I’m not careful, this small boy will embarrass me in my own house. 😭😂
He’s also such a good sport. Well, most of the time.
Lately, we’ve entered the phase where losing a game sometimes comes with tears. 😂 But I suppose that’s part of learning too. Learning how to lose, how to manage disappointment, and how to come back and try again.
And I think that’s one of the things I love about chess. Beyond the strategy and problem-solving, there are so many little life lessons tucked into every game.
Patience. Thinking before acting. Accepting that sometimes you make the wrong move. And understanding that losing doesn’t mean you can’t get better.
But beyond all of that, I just really enjoy playing with him.
He’s pretty much my only chess partner at home, so our games have become something I genuinely look forward to.
It’s lovely watching him grow into his own little person, developing his interests, challenging himself, and occasionally challenging his mother a little too much. 😂
For now, I’m enjoying the fact that I can still give him a good game.
At this rate, though, I might need to start studying chess seriously just to keep up with him. 😭♟️
Here’s to many more games, plenty of laughter, a few tears, and hopefully, a little more grace in defeat.
P.S. I’ve also just realised how often I say “you know” when I’m talking. Apparently, it’s every other sentence. You know? 😂😭
