I’m still waking up fighting this flu, but today I did feel a little better, and I thank Jesus for that.
I was able to get up, take my son to school, help my aunt get ready for dialysis, and then lay down and watch a fun show with my daughter.
And honestly, I’m trying to remind myself that counts.
I’ve been pushing myself a little too hard, and I think my body is finally telling me, “You need to rest.”
But last night I found myself feeling guilty. Guilty that I didn’t do enough. Guilty that I slacked on things I normally take care of. Guilty that five days later I’m still only at about 65%.
But I’m learning that rest is not failing.
Being sick does not mean I’m letting my family down.
Sometimes taking care of myself is the most loving thing I can do, because my body is asking for what it needs.
So today I’m choosing rest without guilt.
Thank you, Jesus, for another day, for small improvements, and for the reminder that I don’t have to earn rest. 🤍
