I’m not sure how well you you can see this detail, since the video is sped up, but Leeloo, my adult female Kordensis, has a very specific preference when it comes to her day-old thawed quail! 😂

She apparently enjoys a little quail dance before dinner, where I hold the wing with tongs (or sometimes my fingers) and gently make it look like it’s flapping. 🐥🤣

Of all the ways I’ve presented her food, this seems to be her favorite! Who knew serving dinner with a little choreography could make such a difference?

One of the fun parts of keeping and building trust with tree monitors is learning their individual quirks and preferences. They may not all respond the same way, but paying attention to their behavior helps us better understand what captures their interest. It makes feeding time engaging for them and their humans. 💚🦎
