Here I assist Drs. Pretorius and Frankenstein in their experiments, wearing a dress dated 1891 (with slightly later veil). The ancient Egyptians have no tales of reanimation in the style of Mary Shelley’s anti-hero doctor, although the “Opening of the Mouth” ritual could allow both the body of the deceased and a statue (even a two-dimensional relief) to function as a conduit for a spiritual force, although neither stalked abroad as a Golem-like figure. We also have no evidence for stitched together pieces forming composite mummies, of the sort H.P. Lovecraft describes in his “Imprisoned with the Pharaohs.” However, we do have some unusual animal mummies. When ancient Egyptians gave proper burial and thereby good afterlifes to the bodies of animals sacred to ancient Egyptian deities, they received in turn spiritual benefit for themselves. When this practice became so popular in Late Period Egypt that demand for those animal mummies increased, some unscrupulous priests sold cobbled together bits of animals, even sticks and sawdust. The Ptolemaic Period priest Hor of Sebennytos (2nd century BCE), oversaw an investigation into this fraud, resulting in the pithy rule: “One god (mummified animal avatar of a deity), one pot (ceramic burial vessel)!” #darkacademia #1890sfashion #ancientegypt #Egyptology #frankenstein
McDonald’s floors have become an unexpected internet reference because of the reddish-brown tiles commonly found in older restaurant locations. For years, many McDonald’s interiors featured durable ceramic or quarry-style tiles designed to withstand heavy foot traffic, spills, grease, and constant cleaning. Their distinctive color and rectangular patterns made them instantly recognizable to anyone who grew up visiting the fast-food chain. Over time, McDonald’s began replacing many of its older restaurant designs with modern interiors featuring neutral colors, updated furniture, and different flooring materials. However, those classic reddish tiles are still associated with the restaurant’s older aesthetic, leading people online to compare similar flooring in homes, kitchens, and living rooms to McDonald’s. #McDonalds #InteriorDesign #Nostalgia
Before I close this birthday chapter, thank you for all the love, wishes and blessings. 🥹🤍 I’ve spent the last few days celebrating another year of life, but somewhere between all the celebrations, I realised something. We spend so much of our lives wanting to be loved, understood, chosen and celebrated by others that sometimes we forget the one person who’s been with us through absolutely everything. Ourselves. I’ve been so many versions of me. Some I loved, some I struggled to understand, some I’m still learning to forgive. But every single one of them brought me here. Somewhere between wanting to be independent and never wanting to leave my people behind, between making mistakes and making memories, between building a life and learning to live it… I became someone my younger self would be proud of. And if there’s one thing I want to tell you, it’s this: No matter who stays, who leaves, what works out or what doesn’t, please don’t ever leave your own side. Be the person you can come home to. Celebrate your little wins. Forgive yourself for your mistakes. Make yourself happy, even on the days when nobody else knows how to. Love people with your whole heart, but save some of that love for yourself too. I’m still building, still dreaming, still figuring things out. And for once, I’m not in a hurry to become someone else. Thank you for being a part of my journey and for making this birthday so special. Here’s to growing older without leaving the little us behind. 🤍 . Ps. i will post the vlog super soon on my youtube ♥️trust me you will love every bit of it !! #TheNewEra #sameekshatakke #birthdayweek #november
