Melbourne, the Greek Film Festival has started!

Last night, we went along to the opening of the 31st Greek Film Festival and watched Best Friends Forever, a hilarious Greek comedy that had the crowd in absolute stitches!

We also caught up with Spirithoula from the Greek Community of Melbourne to chat all things Greek cinema and culture.

With over 50 films screening across seven Melbourne cinemas, including Kino, Penny Lane and Westgarth, there’s something for everyone!

From the festival’s opening film, Best Friends Forever, to the dark and powerful Electra, plus Broken Vein, Greece’s official nomination for the 2027 Oscars, this year’s lineup has plenty to offer.

🇬🇷 The festival runs from 13–25 October across Australia, including Melbourne and Sydney.

Head to the link in our bio to grab your ticket before it wraps up!

Sponsors include @oasiscoffee @phlavour__ @thematikos @suesensidesign @carrotenau @hellenicwinespirits @bankofsydney @vanillaoakleigh @korres.athens @epsagreece @joannidesfunerals @antenna_pacific

Our community is rich in talent, achievement, and dedication. The Greek Community of Melbourne plays a vital role in nurturing connections and celebrating our shared Hellenic heritage. The 31st Greek Film Festival is a testament to this commitment, bringing people together through the universal language of cinema and celebrating the stories, culture, and traditions that connect us to Greece and to one another.
