I am the inaugural Artist-in-Residence at The Alta, and that my residency has been extended beyond this summer through the end of 2026.
I’m deeply grateful for this wonderful opportunity. A big thank you to Castulo, Susana, Pilar, Marco, Alexis, and all the supportive and kind folks at The Alta, that include Susan, Martina, Arlene, Daniel, Javier, and Summer .
Through this residency, I will activate the Rubén Esparza Movable Studio® as a dynamic, public-facing workspace—a place for meaningful engagement with visitors while supporting the development of new commissioned work, as well as an opportunity to focus on completing artworks that have remained unfinished.

My practice centers on an ongoing exploration of the cultural significance of Latinx, Chicano, and Queer diasporas, examining histories of migration, identity formation, resistance, and cultural production.

The Alta is the first space of its kind dedicated to bridging health and wellness with the preservation, celebration, and elevation of Chicana/o/x and Mexican artists, filmmakers, and writers whose stories continue to shape this country’s rich narrative.
