It's been an emotional rollercoaster week. Winning an award is hugely gratifying but also, this book is always going to break my heart.
Books are created by teams of people. To @katepickards_pics firstly, who saw authenticity in the manuscript and was patient when I was wobbly, I owe a huge thank you. The whole team at @uwapublishing who turned my words into a beautiful book and have been wonderful to work with - especially Lauren Pratt. And special thanks to my steadfast clear-eyed editor @readingkate who steered the ship. Thank you to @hazellam___ for giving the book a cover the pages hope to live up to and Brendan Fredericks for being an energetic publicist.
And thank you to all the readers, reviewers, authors, interviewers, @publishedornot3cr, podcasters, instagrammers, who spread the word about the book.
It's always going to be bitter-sweet to celebrate this book because I wish it wasn't a story I had to tell. And with this new experience, I am again amazed that I have yet again discovered a new way to miss and grieve my extraordinary best friend.
