20 days ago@fugitivefitness I had to look up an English version of the book to find the part I wanted, I only have a printed one in Brazilian Portuguese. It's called a shovel hook in the book. Pages 110 and 111 on the printed book. I believe you might also find the same info in the book "On Boxing", by Edwin L Haislet. Considering a lot of the info in "The Tao Of Jeet Kune Do" comes from that book and some others.
22 days agoKickass, man. Also, this type of strike is in "The Tao Of Jeet Kune Do" for a reason. Plus, for a more modern source, in one of Tim Larkin's TFT DVDs, a modified form of this type of striking is the main punch taught. He and his guys give their reasons there, pretty convincing. In the DVD it's a extreme close quarters strike with your elbow glued to your hips and driving your whole bodyweight against the guy. Good to see other sources showing this type of strike. Stay safe, stay deadly. ☠🗡🐍
23 days agoStudying the hands down fighters like wonderboy, mvp etc proves it can be done . I think it fills a niche at range and with organic gesturing that doesn’t limit you to having your hands up, and for fluid situations in more open environments you might lowkey end up doing a lot or shuffling or jogging around to not get flanked. The ability to move agile and strike from wherever is key. Also unlocks wierd angles and greater power. If you’re a competent fighter and take the initiative, you should be able to implement hands down when forced to, and punch your way into a guard if they’re even still functional
23 days agoBasically, fists should be able to be thrown effectively from(through?) All the same pathways that edge wpns folks call "the 10 cuts" or whatever. At least. IMO anyway
