Heading into low season so have a bit of spare time on my hands to take the grommets I’ve been coaching for the last six years exploring. Just got back from a trip down the coast to No Mans Land where we stumbled across a couple of sick new set ups that I can practically guarantee have never been surfed before. One spot we had to rent motorbikes cause it was completely inaccessible by 4WD or even by boat and there was this really old lady sitting alone by herself under a tree. We asked her if she’d ever seen any other surfers there and she replied that I was the first white person that she’d ever seen so I guess that answered my question! The set up was absolutely sick a huge reef pass about 300m wide with a heavy left on one side and an even sicker right on the other and to top it off down on the inside of the pass there was like a submerged atoll with a little left reeling off one side and a little right off the other crazy set up! In this pic the GreenTeam groms posing on the main beach break with a couple of the local boys that we flicked a few boards to hone in their skills as last time we went down there they were still surfing on pieces of broken pirogue just like our Polynesian Ancestors were doing hundreds of years ago! I won’t be doing any commercial surf trips down there as this little lost paradise is staying well tucked away in my back pocket but anyone who’s keen on surfing the main breaks in the Anakao region is more than welcome to drop us a line. Peak season for 2027 runs from April 1st through September 30th.
