Your heel or Your knee — which one are You lifting?

Most athletes are taught to lift the knee. But when You lift the knee Your foot lands in front of the body.

Lifting the heel with a stiff ankle keeps Your foot under You. That's what allows You to strike underneath the hip.

Heel up. Stiff ankle. Strike under the hip.

That's the pattern.

In sprint, vocabulary is Key...I am french and the way we translate basic drills like "high knees" influences how we do it naturally. In french we said "monter de genou" meaning "lift your knee"...so people lift them as high as possible... So yeah we should improve this naming for sure

This is not how you run with top speed technique. You foot does go under your knee then cycles under front of hips. Every world record runs this way. I have some cycle drills on powerrunning45.
