Long before the building became a public library, it was home to one of Chicago’s most unusual and talked about drinking spots. Known as the Midget Club, the tavern attracted plenty of attention and became a popular destination for people looking for something different from the city’s traditional nightlife. Now, rare footage offers a fascinating glimpse inside the bar and the atmosphere that once made it so memorable.

The footage comes from I Married a Munchkin, a film by Chicago filmmaker Tom Palazzolo. His work documented everyday life and some of the more unusual corners of the city, preserving scenes that might otherwise have disappeared from public memory. This particular footage gives viewers a chance to see the Midget Club as it actually looked while it was still operating.

The tavern eventually closed after the city acquired the property and the building was cleared to make way for a public library. The decision became controversial among people who believed the establishment had a place in the neighbourhood and questioned whether another location could have been used for the library instead.

Today, the footage serves as a reminder of how quickly familiar places can disappear as cities change and redevelop. Whether the library was worth the loss of the tavern is still an interesting question, especially for those who remember the Midget Club. Would you have saved the bar or supported the library?

Who are period pants for? More people than you might think ❤️ @piperperiod
I don’t use tampons, so period pants are my go-to. I wear them all the time, and for me, they’re simply part of my underwear drawer. But you don’t have to be on your period to wear them.

They can be that extra bit of reassurance at the gym or when your cycle becomes less predictable during perimenopause. And even after your periods stop, you might still want absorbent underwear for everyday discharge.

From first periods to heavy days, overnight protection or just feeling a little more secure, there are so many reasons to reach for a pair. That’s what I love about them and why I created them. Something so practical can still feel like beautiful lingerie. You don’t have to choose between feeling comfortable and feeling like yourself.

That’s how I wear mine…how do you wear yours? 👀

off to go raid some tombs

Scott Wiener's campaign is bankrolled by AI, that is why he opposes a national data center moratorim.

Scott Wiener supports Israel, that is why he is still proposing that we sell weapons to a genocidal, apartheid state.

Scott Wiener's campaign manager, Josh Raznick, thought it would be a good idea to create an AI chatbot of Connie Chan, then the chatbot started making racist comments about Chan.

Scott Wiener's policy lead, Jose Luis Gandara, stated that people protesting Scott's position on Palestine, "don't actually give a shit about the SITUATION," when referring to the Genocide of Palestinians.

Connie Chan supports a full arms embargo on Israel, a data center moratorium, and DOES NOT run her entire campaign on donatione from Anthropic.

Election day is Tuesday, November 3rd.
