A blaze of peach on azure sky defied the marching stars;
for a moment, the auburn fields refused to yield.
The crisp howl of icy change arrived;
carried by gales from permafrost fields.
And the oak-rooted hollow swallowed the wind;
there, in the crook of the river's dark breath,
the shivering air turned round on itself.
The darkness is cunning, where roots run astray; towering clouds reflecting the day only future hours will know.
While we sit with ancient fables, in vines of decay;
the rippling current carries the summer sadness downstream.
