Elon Musk has unveiled a Tesla Roadster that can fly, using rocket technology developed with Spacex.
At an event in Texas, the electric sports car demonstrated how it could drive up an inverted ramp, lift off the ground, perform mid-air manoeuvres and land using a system of compressed-air thrusters. The technology is designed to give the car rocket-like capabilities beyond conventional electric vehicles.
Tesla also claims the Roadster can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 0.81 seconds and reach speeds exceeding 230 mph.
First announced in 2017, the long-delayed electric supercar is now targeting production in 2028. However, questions remain over its safety, road legality and whether all the flying capabilities demonstrated will make it into the production version. #elonmusk
