AGIA ANNA
The locals call this part of Mykonos Aphrodite’s Tits. Just around the corner, tucked between the rocks and the sea, stands a little chapel called Agia Anna.
Anna comes here when she needs inspiration. She likes the smell of incense caught in the warm air, the soft glow of candles, and the old icons glowing in the half-light. In the afternoon sun, dust floats through the room like tiny golden insects. The sea breeze slips through the open door, bringing salt, warmth and the distant sound of waves.
And then there is the music. A disco beat drifting in from a beach club somewhere down the coast, becoming part of the afternoon. Where spiritual devotion meets the pulse of modern life.
Anna closed her eyes and made a wish. She thought of all the things she wanted to create, all the places she had yet to see, and all the versions of herself she had not yet met. Outside, the waves kept arriving, one after another, as they had for thousands of years. Perhaps that was the secret of this island: nothing ever really stayed the same, and somehow, everything always found its way back.
