A 16-year-old Dearborn Heights teenager who died following a high-speed crash in Dearborn Thursday morning has been identified as Saif Hussein.

The deadly crash happened around 8:23 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, near the intersection of Monroe and Beech streets.

According to the Dearborn Police Department, preliminary findings indicate Hussein lost control of his vehicle before crashing. Police say speed appears to have been a contributing factor.

Dearborn Fire and Rescue crews responded to the scene and transported Hussein to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The teenager’s death has left family members, friends and members of the community mourning the loss of a young life.

Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin expressed his condolences following the tragedy.

“This is a terrible tragedy, and we extend our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim,” Shahin said.
