The Zugspitze debate 🏔️🇩🇪🇦🇹
Did you know that the Zugspitze is famous as Germany’s highest peak, but it actually sits right on the border between Germany and Austria?
Standing at 2,962 meters, this iconic mountain is shared by both countries, with the official border running right through its summit. For years, there has been a friendly debate over who truly gets to claim it—while Germany proudly calls it its highest point, Austria shares a huge piece of its beauty and access.
Technically, you can stand on the peak and be in both nations at the very same time!
