We get remarks like this in Tulsa from touring acts sometimes too. Honestly it bothers me, and really goes to show how the news and social media poison different areas of America against each other. Might as well be saying "Man we thought you were all inbred hicks that would be screaming racial slurs the entire time, turns out you're human beings that enjoy art! Who would have thought!"

Mid-set Remarks about the Phlegms (the vanguard band of the Fayetteville DIY music scene) and their fans (the cool and tasteful people of Fayetteville and surrounding areas) from Greg Saunier (drummer, leading speaker of Deerhoof) on Deerhoof’s first show in Fayetteville, Arkansas on Wednesday October 14th, 2026 at George’s Majestic Lounge: “Months of pre-sale tabulations, social media posts, in desperation, walking around in the parking lot at 7 o'clock when doors were supposed to be opening, attempting to operate a merch table to a completely empty room, well after doors. All of the fright and terror and panic and regret that we felt, wondering, “have we booked the wrong city?” instantly, was terminated when The Phlegms hit the first note of the first bar of the first song.” *Crowd Cheers* “I know you guys like the Phlegms, but we're we're talking about my feelings and my feelings are that: for me, all stage fright was instantaneously eliminated and I felt nothing but joy. I saw, suddenly, the completely empty room was now completely full and Fayetteville had the most enthusiastic audience I think l've seen in years! You know, it's incredible! We must come back!
