You may still be looking at me like I have FOUR EYES or like I’ve completely lost my mind for voluntarily waking up at 5 AM.

But hear me out…

What if the way you started your morning could completely change the way you live your LIFE?

I truly believe that when you wake up with intention, it translates into EVERY other aspect of your day. You’re more disciplined, productive, you become a more patient mom, And instead of spending your entire day pouring into everyone else, you’ve already made the decision to pour into yourself first. Which, like they say, allows you to pour from a full cup.

And those little decisions, repeated consistently over YEARS, can completely change your life. And reflecting recently, I know it’s because of the decision I made four years ago to start waking up at 5 AM.

Four years ago, I never could’ve imagined the life I have today.

And while I don’t necessarily measure success by how much money I make, I now earn more than THREE TIMES what I made working as an engineer. But the BEST part? The time freedom.

Being able to work for myself, make my own schedule, drop my kids off at school, pick them up, and actually be PRESENT with them.

I wouldn’t trade that flexibility for ANY amount of money. And I truly don’t believe I would’ve gotten here without consistency, hard work, and making intentional time for myself every morning.

And if you’re wondering HOW THE HECK to become a morning person, there’s a book that completely changed my perspective on mornings.

Comment MORNING ☀️ and I’ll send you the book along with all my morning routine essentials!

An Alien Registration Number and the phrase “I love you, mom.”

I don’t know exactly when and I don’t know how, but sometime this year I began covering family detention and family separation almost exclusively.

Over the last few months, I’ve met so many children whose lives have changed drastically in a matter of hours. One day they’re studying for a math test and the next they’re in a white van surrounded by masked men.

One night, their mom is reading them a bed time story and the next they’re wondering if she’s ever coming home.

Last week, I met Valery. A brave 6-year-old who proudly read her mom’s A# from a piece of paper and told me it was important to have it handy.

She is six.

Her mom Adela and older sister Sofia, were at the Dilley immigration processing center at the time.

As it happens with most of the cases I cover, I was in awe of Adela’s children. Bright, brave and resilient. It made it difficult to say goodbye, I never want to say goodbye.

Today I was able to return. And I witnessed the moment Valery got home from school to a surprise she had been praying for. Her mom, Adela, was released. Her sister is home again too.

It was a bittersweet moment. They are happy, but they lost so much.

Attorneys @coreysull and @attorneygoldfinch fought ruthlessly for this mother. Yes, I get to shed light on these stories, but they carry the weight. They do the work.
