Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan accused his Democratic opponent, Mary Peltola, of corruption and cheating on Monday while rallying supporters in Alaska. Peltola told supporters Friday night that she was “deeply offended” by allegations that she was involved in an effort to recruit a namesake candidate. A federal judge on Sunday threw out a bid from the Trump administration to block state officials from certifying results if the incumbent loses. The Alaska Senate race is one of the most closely watched contests in the country, with polls showing a tight race as Democrats try to wrest back control of the chamber from Republicans. Read more at the link in our bio.

Is it just me or we really need to rethink the role of movement in our society?
One of Bollywood's catchiest disco songs arguably had even greater success in a completely different country. This is the story of how the song 'Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy Aaja' from the soundtrack to the 1982 Bollywood film Disco Dancer (produced by prolific bollywood music producer Bhappi Lahiri) became an unmitigated success in the Soviet Union. It has even been suggested that the song became so integral to Soviet society, a common hit even at weddings, that the song could be used by Soviets as a test of potential foreign spies, to see if someone truly grew up in the USSR. Whether this was truly done or is simply an urban legend, it's amazing how popular an indian movie's climactic dance song became in an entitely different country, language and culture. A special shout out to my friends at the @therevolverclub for finding me this copy of the soundtrack on vinyl! Be sure to listen out for it in my upcoming sets 🤙 [ Disco, Music History, Vinyl Records, India, Bollywood, Soviet Union, Movie History ]
