Syracuse Abroad

Hi! My name is Mia Cannizzaro (@miacannizz), and I’m a senior studying Strategic Communications in Newhouse.

I studied abroad in London (@syracuselondon) this past summer through the internship Program. London has been a dream destination of mine for years, and working there gave me the chance to experience the city like a local and imagine what it might be like to live and build a career there one day.

One of the reasons I was so drawn to London was its entertainment culture. I saw several West End shows and even a concert at Wembley Stadium! London’s central location also made it easy to travel, and I took weekend trips to Scotland and Amsterdam. Still, some of my favorite memories come from the friends I made along the way. Going from strangers to traveling together is something I’ll always cherish, and they truly made my time abroad special.

I became a Global Ambassador because my time abroad was so memorable and has been a truly positive influence in my life. I was nervous about adjusting to a new environment, and I want to keep sharing my experience to help students who are on the fence feel more confident and excited about the opportunities that await them abroad!
