Happy Meet the Crew Monday! Meet Autumn!
Hi!! My name is Autumn Chandler. I am 20 years old and I am from Vina, Alabama. In my free time, I like to spend time with my family and friends, go to the park for walks with my dog, and catch up on any studying I have left to do. I chose ultrasound because I have always had a passion for helping people, so I researched a lot of different medical options I could do and shadowed for ultrasound first. I just knew it was what I needed to do. My favorite part of the program so far has been meeting so many new people, patients, students and staff, that continue to make me a better person and a better sonographer every day. Some advice I would give to future students is to never second guess yourself, work together with your classmates, study a lot and enjoy every second of the program, it really flies by!

Long before the building became a public library, it was home to one of Chicago’s most unusual and talked about drinking spots. Known as the Midget Club, the tavern attracted plenty of attention and became a popular destination for people looking for something different from the city’s traditional nightlife. Now, rare footage offers a fascinating glimpse inside the bar and the atmosphere that once made it so memorable. The footage comes from I Married a Munchkin, a film by Chicago filmmaker Tom Palazzolo. His work documented everyday life and some of the more unusual corners of the city, preserving scenes that might otherwise have disappeared from public memory. This particular footage gives viewers a chance to see the Midget Club as it actually looked while it was still operating. The tavern eventually closed after the city acquired the property and the building was cleared to make way for a public library. The decision became controversial among people who believed the establishment had a place in the neighbourhood and questioned whether another location could have been used for the library instead. Today, the footage serves as a reminder of how quickly familiar places can disappear as cities change and redevelop. Whether the library was worth the loss of the tavern is still an interesting question, especially for those who remember the Midget Club. Would you have saved the bar or supported the library?
