ECOSOMATIC CONTEMPORARY
A movement practice by Kate Myers
Ecosomatics explores the relationship between our bodies and the ecosystems we inhabit. My approach brings together contemporary dance, body mechanics, and ecological consciousness to explore how we move, relate, and create together.
The class is structured around three interconnected principles:
ROOTING — Grounds, shapes, and orients. Through floorwork and functional conditioning, we explore stability, alignment, our relationship to our own body and the earth.
FLOWING — Circulates, disrupts, and expands. Through continuous movement and changing patterns of energy, we practice adaptability, responsiveness, dynamism, and collective awareness.
BEAMING — Radiates. Through energetic standing work and expansive movement, we explore presence, vitality, confidence, and joy. This section is about expand our capacity to express ourselves and illuminate the spaces we share.
Each class combines functional movement, contemporary/modern dance technique, learned sequences, and improvisation to build strength, deepen body awareness, and develop personal artistry.
