Last month, Ms. Venne's Data Science class did a pretty sweet experiment! Students constructed catapults and launched gummy bears around the classroom as a part of their Exploring Variation unit. Students measured the bears' distance and analyzed whether color or size made a difference in how far each bear traveled.
Ms. Venne's Data Science class uses CourseKata curriculum — a program founded by a group of learning scientists from UCLA and Cal State LA who hoped to understand and improve the way that students learn difficult concepts. Ms. Venne was part of a CourseKata pilot program in 2024, and was able to earn a grant for Dublin School to use CourseKata curriculum for free.
