nyc marathon 2026 🗽14th place in 2:29:52 ever since mid july when i found out i got in to the elite field at my first world major, i’ve showed up to practice with excitement to show up as fit as i could possibly be because i never want to take an opportunity like this for granted. i wanted to be competitive and man did the stars align. coming in to this race i had the best marathon build i could have, and i felt calm and confident that whatever happened out there i would be able to handle it. when the gun (or canon?) went off i had so much adrenaline running through my body it was an out of body experience. many people have told me it’s advantageous to only be half awake the first half of the marathon, but i just couldn’t help but feel how iconic this race was, and how growing up i didn’t see many latina runners taking up space in fields like this. i somehow girl bossed my way here alongside other pros, olympians, & world medalists. it was hard to remain relaxed but i just soaked it in as we came off the verrazano and onto brooklyn. brooklyn was beautiful. hearing everyone’s cheers, sometimes so loud that it was almost deafening. the sun beaming on the city, and the pack of amazing women in front of me who looked so controlled as i just tried to repeat to myself “i belong”. i made it to mile 10 with the front pack. shortly after we picked up the pace. came through half in 1:14:01 and i found myself forming a chase pack with a few other women. there was something inspiring about all of us representing different countries, packing up and making it a team effort to tackle what was about to come. the queensboro bridge. my coach said this was my wake up call. at this point everything was a warmup for the race that’s about to begin.
