At Gokarna, Ravana did 10,000 years of tapasya. Every 1,000 years, he offered one head to the fire. Nine went in. As he raised the blade to the tenth, Brahma appeared, and every head grew back.

His boon: no god, demon, serpent or yaksha could kill him. Humans? He called them “straw” and didn’t even ask.
