Sharing some man-made discoveries that have brought me joy and inspiration.

The first – a simple mosaic in an ordinary wall of a side-street in Auxerre. I wonder who put it there and what motivated them... Did they create the hole for the mosaic, or was the hole already there, and they decided to make it interesting?

My mum spotted these beautiful wooden marionnettes on a visit to Emmaus (a kind of charity shop in France), knowing I'd love them. Then my daughter, Rachel, gifted them to me.

Originally from Burma, though they've been living in France for twenty years. I find their faces so beautiful, kind and full-of-life. I'm happy to see them each day at home! I will paint them some day.

Another second-hand find, a joyful glass vase – its shape and colour made me think of the sun. Though here a delicate nature find is placed inside (maybe a heron'
