This song captures my race experience weekend. I was proud that I entered A corral goal, but I knew my training didn’t have me there. Wasn’t due to not putting in effort rather a medical reason and operation robbed me of four weeks of training. I pushed back to corral B hoping for a 3:40 but knew by mile 10 I wasn’t there. I wanted to just pull off at the half because I was disappointed that I wouldn’t be better like I had planned. However my mind is like that is not you.. finish what you started. No excuses just complete. I tried to concentrate on other things to find my happy like giving high fives to the children and kissing Scooby. However sometimes the mind leads you on roads of aggravation and dissatisfaction. I began to concentrate on getting to the next mile. Seeing the one mile rather than the several that followed. In the end it wasn’t the race I wanted but it was the race that I had in me that day. I am just glad I didn’t quit because my mind said the performance I had in me wasn’t worthy of completion. I need to learn that life isn’t always about the glory. Sometimes it is more about the grit and what you learn about yourself when you struggle with perfection. Life isn’t always a personal best but the experience brings with it a lesson. If every challenge lead to a personal best, then perhaps they wouldn’t be as meaningful. Sometimes breaks are needed even if they are forced upon you. Loved that my son was there to cheer me on.. meant the world. I don’t know if I would have continued had he not been there. I know one thing God loves me and He is always with me. He helped get me through as did the love of my son. I met the finish line with nothing more in me,so I gave what I had. That was the win. Finish with nothing in the tank❤️Embrace the valleys.. push through the climb.. appreciate the beauty captured in the journey…even if it wasn’t the beauty you intended.
