NBC COMMENCES TWO-DAY COMPLIANCE AND CAPACITY-BUILDING TRAINING FOR BROADCAST STATIONS

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Abuja Zonal Office, has commenced a two-day Compliance and Capacity-Building Training for Broadcast stations in Abuja Zone, holding on 21st and 22nd October, 2026, at Toprank Hotel, Abuja.

The training, themed “Understanding the Nigeria Broadcasting Code: Ethical Broadcasting and Responsible Management of Live, Discussion and Current Affairs Programmes,” is aimed at strengthening professional competence, promoting responsible broadcasting and enhancing compliance with the Nigeria Broadcasting Code.

In his address, the Director-General of the Commission, Mr. Charles Ebuebu, represented by the Coordinating Director, Broadcast Monitoring, Dr. Susan Obi, emphasised the need for professionalism, responsibility and adherence to ethical standards in sustaining public trust and ensuring credible information dissemination.

Key areas of focus include the responsible management of live broadcasts, phone-in programmes and current affairs discussions, the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in broadcasting, political communication and ethical broadcasting ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

The two-day programme features expert presentations, interactive sessions and practical exercises designed to equip broadcasters with the requisite knowledge and skills to address emerging challenges in the industry and uphold the standards of responsible broadcasting.
