A matte lip balm is a bit of a strange concept to me as I naturally associate lip balms with hydration and a glossy finish. So I treat the new Celine’s Matte Lip Balm in 03 Aliénor as more like a tinted matte lipstick. It feels comfortable on the lips but you’ll want to prep them well to avoid patchiness. The shade 03 is a flattering neutral brown that would suit a wide range of skin tones. And the silver metal packaging? Simply gorgeous. I hope Celine brings out glossy versions next because a matte finish isn’t the easiest to wear without an extra layer of gloss or a hydrating balm.
