What happens after a young person takes the first step forward?
Last week, we welcomed five team members from COMPASS Youth Collaborative to our October Thriving Tables conversation on Emotional Wellness and Environmental Conditions.
One of the ideas that stayed with us was the importance of the handoff.
We talked about youth-serving organizations as members of a relay team. Each may play a different role in supporting a young person, but progress can be difficult to sustain when the next leg of the journey isn’t clearly connected.
We also explored housing stability, the importance of ongoing relationships, and the capacity of adults doing this demanding work.
These are exactly the kinds of conversations Thriving Tables were designed to create: opportunities to listen, understand different perspectives, and explore how we can better support young people and the adults working alongside them.
Thank you to the
@compassyouthcollaborative team for an open and meaningful conversation.
A question we’re carrying forward: How do we make sure young people experience continuity of support as they move between programs and opportunities?
The Thriving Tables series is a component of the FutureYOUth Initiative and is led by Dr. Dayeshell P. Muhammad, COO of My People.
