Hurts real bad.
Being sick hurts.
Being injured hurts.
Running hurts.
Walking hurts.
Stopping hurts.
Letting people down hurts.
Letting myself down hurts.
Blowing expectations hurts.
Writing this hurts.
The fear that I could have done more hurts most.
I tried running with pain.
I tried running with lack of air.
I tried running with nothing but the desire to run.
I tried and I tried and I tried and I tried.
And then I didn’t. Or I couldn’t.
I really don’t know.
Didn’t know then.
Don‘t know now.
To my team, to my crew, to my coach, to my country and to my sport:
I love you.
I apologise to you.
I wanted to do more for you.
This meant everything to me.

2 months out. You were unsure if you would make it to the start line. You did everything in your power to make it happen. Your story isn't over, just the chapter. You gave everything you could, you fought the pain, you fought the doubts, you thoughts the intrusive conveyor belt of messages telling you can stop and you continued until there was no more left for that day. You didn't fail, you reached your limit for that moment in time. Another day, another outcome. Live to put it all on the line for the next pursuit in the abyss

Fear has killed more dreams than failure ever has. Not everything you loose is a loss, lessons were learnt and you live to fight another day. Good, bad or anything in between you’re alive and breathing, surrounded by people who love you and believe in you wholeheartedly. Chin up, we’re all proud. Tart.
