Rest in peace, my sweet dad. He was 93 years old and eight days short of celebrating 63 years of marriage. It was so sad to awaken Monday morning, for the first time in my life, without my dad here on this earth. No more of his legendary stories told in his own voice. (I was partial to the badger story. Although the alien trick is the popular family favorite.) No more of him asking me to “plant one right there” and pointing to his cheek.💋 Gone is one of the few people on this earth who calls me Deb. I remember acrobatics on the front lawn, his endless patience in teaching me to drive a stick and his unrelenting optimism that I’d finally conquer it, family hikes and motorcycle rides, fishing trips in the mountains, walking me down the aisle, and his great love for all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was always quick to tell me how proud he was of me. But what I did to deserve that is a mystery. He loved us all so well! ❤️ Our family is heartbroken, but we do “not grieve as others do who have no hope” (1 Thess. 4:13), but trust that “…whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
