Your fitness is not a hobby. It is part of the job.
When the call comes, somebody is counting on your body to work. The patient who needs carrying. The partner at the door. A family on the worst night of their life. They do not care that you were tired, busy or «meant to get back into it.»
Every department checks you at the academy and then stops. So the only thing keeping your standard up is you. If you let it slip, your team pays for it. They carry your weight, cover your pace and say nothing. That is not loyalty from them. That is you taking something you did not earn.
Out of shape on the frontline is not a lifestyle choice. It is a liability with a badge.
Fix it before a call fixes it for you.
